Cleaning & Screening
We want you to feel comfortable and confident when you walk through our doors, and part of that is helping you understand what happens during your appointment. Most importantly, prevention is an integral part of a comprehensive oral care plan. We take many steps during an oral examination and cleaning to prevent oral disease.
One of the things we focus on is the health of your gums. Catching gum disease early allows us to prevent it spreading or worsening. In the beginning stages of gum disease, we can take a conservative treatment approach and halt or even reverse it.
Always On the Lookout for Cavities
Yes, we check for cavities because they can happen at any age and any stage of life. If not caught in time, tooth decay can do a lot of damage, to the point of requiring a replacement tooth. If we catch a cavity early enough, you won’t risk losing your tooth and can avoid invasive treatments.
Other Things We Check
A big reason we recommend you come in for regular check-ups is to track your oral health and identify any changes or trouble spots. We check for excessive wear on your teeth or jaw issues. We also look for airway issues and for the early signs of oral cancer.
