Common Questions About Invisalign
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners instead of braces to move your teeth into their proper position. Your clear aligners are made for you at a special lab based on a customized treatment plan created by your dentist. You’ll wear each set of clear aligners for about two weeks and then move to the next set in the series. We’ll schedule occasional visits to our office for progress checks.
Is Invisalign painful?
Treatment with Invisalign is more comfortable than braces. Unlike traditional braces, which use an archwire that must be tightened periodically, Invisalign’s clear aligner trays gently move your teeth into their ideal position. You’ll progress through a series of aligners during your treatment, with each one slightly different from the one before. You won’t have to deal with the painful consequences of tightening any wires.
How long does Invisalign take?
In general, Invisalign treatment takes anywhere from 6 to 18 months, with the majority of patients completing their care in 6 to 12 months.
